Another Model Citizen

What a story coming today from Barack Obama's home state of Illinois.

Just read all the details of that story. So sick. My favorite line: "Blagojevich took the chief executive's office in 2003 as a reformer promising to clean up former Gov. George Ryan's mess."

Uh huh.

Is there anyone in the world of politics who isn't a complete and utter scumbag?

Haven't 4 Illinois Governor's been arrested (3 of which did time) in last 35 years prior to this gem?

That's the way politics is done in Chicago!

Last month I was talking to a former lobbyist (state-level in New Mexico). I asked him why he didn't do it any more. His reply: The people I was working with were three steps below child molesters.

At last check his approval rating was hovering around 10% or so.

I hate him so much and am quite glad this is all going down. Illinois politics are a mess. Hell, I wish state's attorney Pat Fitzgerald would run for Governor, I'd vote for him in a second.

If you're selling a Senate seat, don't use eBay . . .

I'm an Illinois Democrat and I couldn't be more pleased by this development. Blago needs to resign now. Everyone knows he's corrupt, and if the Repubs had run a decent moderate candidate against him* last time he'd have been gone. Still it was nice of Blago say of Obama's people "Fuck them" for not playing ball with him. Makes Barry look good.

Bayne_S counting Blago's indictment four of the last eight going back to 1968 have been indicted. The other three all did time.

Mike_M: Which side of the corrupt machine Fitz has been fighting would have him? Actually either would give him whatever job he wants as long as he quits prosecuting them.

*Assuming moderate GOP'ers still exist somewhere.

Hey Connecticut is doing pretty well with political convicts too.

Ex-Gov Rolland gave contracts to partners, Dodd got some favorable interest rates on mortgages.

I think Waterbury could have its on chapter in a political criminal book somewhere.
